Prayuth's coup gamble is almost lost

One month exactly since the military coup in Thailand and anti-coup protestors continue to defy the general who betrayed his people and brought shame to the nation. There can be no doubt that general Prayuth´s coup is set to fail.

Even with Marshal law in place for over a month, and the streets crawling with military and police, anti-coup activists continue to protest peacefully refusing to remain silent.

According to AP News, eight people were detained near the Siam Paragon shopping centre for eating sandwiches and reading 1984 in public. Prayuth's terror campaign is failing to intimidate the Thai resistance movement.

Another Thai man was arrested while eating a sandwich, reading George Orwell's 1984 and listening to the French national anthem, the Marseillaise. He was dragged away by secret police. All those arrested will be released tonight.

With international criticism mounting against the coup makers, an uneasy army, rumours of ethnic cleansing and a failing economy, the generals in Bangkok are facing a humiliating failure.

The army controlled media meanwhile, continue to hide the truth from the Thai public, while attempting to create an atmosphere of normality and "happiness". Even as anti-coup protestors continue to be arrested.

Heavy NCPO censorship and propaganda have failed to stop the anti-coup movement from organising themselves on social media, despite threats to block Facebook and replace it with an army-run fake Thai version.

On 22 May, the army generals in Bangkok risked everything on an illegal coup to ensure a smooth transfer of royal power. That desperate gamble now appears to be lost, as protestors continue to resist the coup.

Vote in our Skipper .....

Referendum!

With the death of king Bhumibol just around the corner, the issue of the succession is now a hot topic.

The choice presented to Thai people by the elite, is either Vajiralongkorn or Sirindhorn and  never includes the option of establishing a Thai Republic.

In this special Skipper referendum on the monarchy in Thailand, we are offering Thai people the chance to vote on all three options, including a Republic.
