The result of this blanket self-censorship and mistrust of official news channels, are the wild rumours which circulate on the net and which on occasions appear to be almost true.
The most chilling rumour circulating at present, is the news that four US citizens have been killed by the Khmer Rouge on the Thai-Cambodian border, after being caught trying to smuggle cannabis into Thailand.
Just how accurate this information is, is anyone's guess. Certainly, the juntas aggressive action against drug dealers to win favour with Thai people, does give it some credence.
This, plus the army's sudden warming to Cambodia, has left some people thinking that the rumours may be true, and that the Khmer Rouge may have been acting on signals sent by Bangkok.

Another perfect example of what happens when an incompetent military junta takes over a country and imposes censorship through coercion and Marshall law. General Prayuth has a lot of explaining to do.
The madness which has gripped Thailand since the Generals took over is there for all to see. Marshall law must be ended and democratic rule restored NOW if Thailand is not to fall apart at the seams.
The NCPO are a bunch of useless buffoons who can't keep order even under Marshall law. The longer the Thai army are in charge, the worse the social, economic and legal situation will become for ordinary people.

Censorship, fear and
wild rumours in Thailand
The damage being done to Thailand by the junta is difficult to calculate. The NCPO's quest to grab power for itself by destroying democracy and basic Human Rights is taking the Thai nation down a dark road from which it may never return.
Most damaging of all is the continued use of Marshall law to prevent the media from reporting the truth. Prayuth claims that journalists are free to report whatever they wish, but fear ensures silence and obedience.
So now we know the truth about the criminals behind the harassment of Rose Amornpat. Some thought it was a bunch of crazy royalists acting on their own, but as this tweet from a high ranking Thai police officer shows, it's the police themselves who are behind it all.
The tweet, which has left people on social networks gasping in shock, calls on royalist to "torture to death" Rose Amornpat. No doubt some royalist fanatics will see this as an open invitation to continue their hate campaign.
There was some doubt if online royalist groups, who dedicate all their time to hunting down anti-royal "trash", were working closely with Thailand's MICT, but after this tweet there can be little doubt.
Since the coup, Thailand has become a nation governed by fascist thugs who rule by fear and intimidation, silencing those who are critical of the army or the monarchy. This latest episode is yet more proof of that.
